Citizens Stage Protest Against Verdict in Monster Case

A group of citizens organised on Friday a protest against the verdict reached in the Monster case, in which 4 boys and one man were murdered in April 2012 near the Smilkovci Lake near Skopje. The protests were organised by the relatives of the defendants, who were not satisfied with the sentences determined against them. The protest started in the Municipality of Cair, Skopje, and was to proceed in front of the Criminal Court, then in front of the Parliament and finally, in front of the Government. However, protesters were prevented from further movement by the police, after which clashes between the police offices ensued, resulting in 11 injured police officers. MoI informed that 8 of the violent protesters were arrested, and that they are working on finding and apprehending other protesters that caused violence.
