On Sunday, the country voted in the local elections. At several locations, polling stations closed later due to problems with the fingerprint machines. At a press-conference at 7 pm, State Election Commission (SEC) President Aleksandar Dastevski said the results would be entered directly from the polling stations for the first time in the country history and be available on the SEC’s website. Voter turnout until 6:30 pm was 48.99%. At a press-conference five and a half hours later, at around 07:58 am, Dastevski said that according to the figures at that moment, the independent candidate for Skopje supported by VMRO-DPMNE, Danela Arsovska, had 53,242 votes, while, SDSM’s Skopje mayoral candidate, Petre Silegov, who is trying to secure a second term, had 51,346.
