Dimitrov-Christodoulides: Development of Bilateral Relations

Six months after the establishment of diplomatic relations between Macedonia and Cyprus, Minister Dimitrov welcomed his Cypriot counterpart, Nikos Christodoulides on his first official visit to the country. “The main reason for my visit is to convey a strong political message from an EU member state to the European perspective of North Macedonia. The country has made truly great efforts in advancing the reform agenda and meeting the criteria and now it is EU’s turn,” stated Christodoulides at the press conference after his meeting with FM Dimitrov. Cypriot support at the next European Council Summit was also the focus at the meeting between Nikos Christodoulides and Technical Prime Minister, Oliver Spasovski. Opposition Leader, Hristijan Mickoski also expects a positive decision on March 26 in Brussels, adding that after 12 April membership negotiations will be led by the new VMRO-DPMNE-led government. Macedonia and Cyprus in the coming months will focus on signing more agreements for developing mutual relations.
