At a press-conference in Poznan, where the 2019 Western Balkans Summit is taking place, FM Nikola Dimitrov said on Thursday that EU integration of the Western Balkans represented completion, not enlargement. At the joint press-conference with his counterparts from several countries, the pledge of those countries for a start of negotiations for Macedonia and Albania was once again confirmed. German Minister for Europe Michael Roth considers that the situation indicates that there is strengthened support from his country for the Western Balkans. However, he added that everybody should increase the efforts for EU integration in the region. Polish FM Jacek Czaputowicz said he regretted that a decision on a start of negotiations had been postponed for October. Bulgarian FM Ekaterina Zaharieva said her country wouldn’t set new conditions for Macedonia’s EU road, adding nonetheless that it wanted for the historical disputes to be resolved. Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski, too, is part of the event in Poland. At the press-conference with his counterpart from Poland and several other participants, he underlined the importance of the Berlin Process.
