Dimitrov: Greater Engagement by Portuguese EU Presidency for Our Accession

Deputy PM for European Affairs Nikola Dimitrov said at a press conference that he expects more active engagements on behalf of the Portuguese presidency with the EU for sooner start of the first inter-governmental conference between Skopje and Brussels. “We expect greater engagements by the Portuguese presidency in the following weeks concerning our accession in the EU, and I can see there is great will among the presidency for that, even though Portugal is quite distant from the Western Balkans. All EU member-states can assist this process, but it would be for the best for the strongest support to come from our neighbours, for it is in the interest of both Bulgaria and Greece for our country to start the accession talks with EU,” Dimitrov said.
