Dutch Parliament Official Veldman visits Macedonia

The president of the Standing Committee on European Affairs of the Dutch Parliament Hayke Veldman paid an official visit to Macedonia on Wednesday. Veldman had a meeting with the Speaker of the Macedonian Parliament Talat Xhaferi with whom he discussed Macedonia’s agenda for integration in the EU. On behalf of the Macedonian Parliament, Xhaferi expressed satisfaction of the cooperation with the Dutch Parliament and its committees, especially in the field of the country’s integration in the EU. “As Parliament Speaker, I shall proceed to articulate the interests of all MPs in the Parliament in future in the communication with all our collaborators. I believe we are on a good track when it comes to the EU integration,” Xhaferi said. Veldman thanked Xhaferi on informing him of the ongoing processes in the Parliament of Macedonia concerning the country’s integration in the EU. The Dutch Parliament official also had a meeting with the Vice-PM for European Affairs Bujar Osmani, with the meeting being attended by the Dutch Ambassador to Macedonia Willem Wouter Plomp. “The Republic of North Macedonia demonstrated outstanding maturity and preparedness to start the membership negotiations with the EU not only with the resolutions to the open disputes with its neighbouring countries, but also with the reforms implemented in the state sectors crucial for the integration processes,” Osmani told Veldman, and thanked him for all the support Netherlands provides to Macedonia in its EU integration processes.
