Following the opening of the “Racket” case in Macedonia and speculations for possible involvement of the Head of the Special Public Prosecution (SPO) Katica Janeva in it, as well as her resignation from her post, the European Commission (EC) issued a reaction. “The EU takes note of Ms Katica Janeva’s announcements of her intention to step down as Special Prosecutor. Efforts need to continue to establish legal accountability for the crimes arising and surrounding the illegal wiretaps. The EC reiterates the importance of all parliamentary political parties working towards finding a sustainable solution for the status of SPO,” the reaction of EC writes.
