EU Ambassador Geer Hopes Conference will be Held as Soon as Possible

The new Head of the EU Delegation, Ambassador David Geer, hopes the first Intergovernmental Conference will be held as soon as possible. In an interview with MIA, he says that it’s now necessary for Member States to agree on the final version of the negotiating framework, which basically opens the door for a start of negotiations. Asked whether Bulgaria’s Memorandum could potentially delay the Conference, the Ambassador points out that EU countries are currently debating the framework, which is an internal process of the Union. Geer adds he cannot comment on Member States’ internal discussions. In his view, the name deal and the Skopje-Sofia treaty are positive examples not only in the region, but also beyond.
