At the working meeting in the Government concerning implementation of EU recommendations over fighting corruption, the Head of the EU Delegation, Ambassador David Geer, levelled criticism. As he said, it’s disappointing that over all recommendations from the European Commission, very little is still being done. The EU Delegation Head urged relevant institutions to strengthen efforts to tackle corruption. Deputy PM for Good Governance Policies Slavica Grkovska, too, voiced dissatisfaction with the work of institutions when it comes to fighting corruption. Asked whether she had approved the deal with Bechtel and ENKA, she distanced herself, that is, said she wasn’t in the country during the signing. Corruption should be dealt with for citizens, not for EU membership, everyone at the working meeting agreed.
