Ex-PMs Zaev and Gruevski Deny Ahmeti’s Comments on Meetings

Former PMs Zoran Zaev and Nikola Gruevski have denied that they met DUI leader Ali Ahmeti regarding the changes to the Criminal Code.

The ex-SDSM leader told 24 TV on Monday that Ahmeti’s statement in the interview with TV21 was not true. The same day, the former VMRO-DPMNE leader, on his official Facebook page, said there hadn’t been any secret meetings in which he’d participated.

The following day, that is, on Tuesday, Democratic Union leader Pavle Trajanov submitted to the Constitutional Court an initiative to re-examine the constitutionality of the changes. As the party said, the initiative points to the obligations for the constitutional provisions concerning the rule of law and laws to apply to everyone equally, as well as to the need to protect state property against abuse by public office holders.
