Experts decide on Harmonisation of textbooks in Spirit of Prespa Agreement

The Macedonian and Greek Foreign Ministries issued a joint statement on the Second Meeting of the Joint Interdisciplinary Committee of Experts for historical, archaeological and educational issues, established in accordance with Article 8 paragraph 5 of the Prespa Agreement. “Having in mind the obligation to apply the provisions of the Prespa Agreement, the delegations of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Hellenic Republic in the Joint Committee held a substantive debate and established an intensive work plan for achieving commonly accepted solutions, based on the principles and objectives of UNESCO and the Council of Europe on this matter. Working in a collegial and constructive atmosphere, the two delegations paid due attention to the issue of curricula and textbooks that are currently in use, and decided their harmonization according to the spirit and the letter of the Prespa Agreement,” it was said, among other things, in the statement.
