German Presidency Preparing for Final Attempt in Relation to Conclusions

Wednesday will see the German Presidency’s final attempt for adoption of the conclusions concerning EU enlargement, including also for Macedonia, which were removed due to the Bulgarian blockade. However, as MIA reported on Monday, currently, it’s unclear what type of compromise Berlin will propose even though it’s certain that it’s drawing up new conclusions that still haven’t been published. The main information that, according to the report, has been circulating in Brussels for several weeks is that compromise is being sought over the formulation related to the “misinterpretation of history”, that is, whether it should be integrated into the introduction only for Macedonia or for all countries from the region. President Stevo Pendarovski believes that the Bulgarian demands when it comes to the Macedonian language and identity cannot be discussed.
