Government and VMRO-DPMNE Still Divided over Early Elections Issue

PM Dimitar Kovacevski hopes the enlargement process, which is founded on a methodology of opening chapters, will not be affected by the adjustment of the Union to the new geopolitical surrounding. According to VMRO-DPMNE President Hristijan Mickoski, North Macedonia has done a lot for Europe and its values. As he added on Thursday, it deserved to start negotiations a long time ago. The opposition leader’s stand is that the holding of early elections is not related to the negotiations date. “They should be held as soon as possible because 75% of citizens believe the country is not moving in a good direction,” he said. On the other hand, the Government’s position is that the country should focus on the priority issues, while elections are currently not an option.
