Government Starts Procedure Related to Elections

The Government’s preparations for the 5 July elections have started. At its session on Wednesday, it adopted an amendment to a regulation with legal force concerning issues related to the election process that put the Interior Ministry under the obligation to submit within one day the lists of citizens that have submitted a request for a new ID or passport, as well as the list of citizens that will have turned 18 by election day or 22 days after the end of the state of emergency. With the decision, the State Election Commission is put under the obligation to take all necessary activities to prepare the election process in line with the Electoral Code. With the same decision, the Health Ministry is put under the obligation to provide all necessary means to protect election body members, it was added in the press-release following the session. The developments mean that the elections will take place on 5 July if the state of emergency isn’t extended.
