Hahn says Macedonia and Albania deserve EU membership Negotiations

In an interview with Montenegrin newspaper Vijesti, the EU’s Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, says that Macedonia and Albania deserve membership negotiations to be opened. As he adds, the former has made significant progress, with the signing of the Prespa Agreement being the most important aspect. In that regard, Hahn points out that the name deal is something that should be part of history books. “When I took office, the country was amid a political crisis whose resolution took years and numerous travels to Skopje. We started off with a statement that there would be no EU enlargement, but now, five years later, we’re leaving a genuine and alive European path for the Western Balkans,” Hahn, who’s been nominated to be the new Commissioner for Budget and Administration, notes.
