The EU’s Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, will present the Enlargement Package on Wednesday, 29 May, the EP’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, which will debate the matter, has confirmed. Though there has still been no official announcement about the agenda from Hahn’s Cabinet, according to the procedure, EU FMs will need to debate the issue of opening negotiations with Macedonia and Albania immediately after the publication of the Package. According to diplomatic sources, there is no consent from all EU countries about opening negotiations because procedures at a national level are required in some of them, but the timeframe doesn’t allow that. Other countries, however, aren’t interested in giving a green light.
