Institute for Macedonian Language Observes 70 th Jubilee

The Institute for Macedonian Language Krste Petkov Misirkov marked on Tuesday the
70 th anniversary of its establishment. PM Dimitar Kovacevski attended and addressed the
event, saying that Macedonian has already become part of the family of EU languages.
“Today we witness the translation of the entire EU legislative into Macedonian
language. Besides this, the negotiation framework for our accession in the EU already
contains and recognises the Macedonian language, without any additions to it. Another
confirmation for the language also came from the German Bundestag with the resolution
adopted last week,” Kovacevski said. Director of the Institute for Macedonian Language
Elena Jovanova-Grujovska said that the function of the institute is to study the
Macedonian language in all fields of social life, to encourage authors to create literature
in Macedonian language, and to provide support to scientists and linguists that want to
perfect their knowledge and skills when it comes to Macedonian language.
