MEPs Kyuchyuk, Schieder Dissatisfied with Bulgarian Blockade for Macedonia

MEPs Ilhan Kyuchyuk and Andreas Schieder expressed in an open announcement their dissatisfaction with the decision of Bulgaria to not approve the EU membership negotiation framework for Macedonia. “The failure of the foreign ministers of the EU member-states to start the first inter-governmental session between Brussels and Skopje seriously jeopardises the credibility of the EU among the Western Balkans. The European Parliament believes that this is due to the blockade from Bulgaria, and that this decision is a serious threat for the regional dialogue and reconciliation processes among the Western Balkans. We also recognise and praise the progress Skopje achieved with the implementation of reforms, and we call upon all relevant parties to continue with the constructive dialogue based on good neighbourly relations and implementation of the Good-neighbourliness Agreement, in accordance with a predictable, objective and accessible process for EU based on achieved results,” writes the announcement signed by Kyuchyuk and Schieder.
