MEPs voice support to Prespa Agreement, Reconciliation Process

The PM of Macedonia Zoran Zaev met on Wednesday in Skopje the MEPs Knut Fleckenstein and David McAllister. As reported by the governmental press service, the MEPs voiced strong support for the implementation of the Prespa Agreement and welcomed PM Zaev’s courage to fully implement the entire process. Zaev voiced his expectation related to voting in Parliament on constitutional amendments in line with Prespa Agreement as well as reforms related to security services, judiciary, public administration, fight against crime and corruption and media. Fleckenstein and McAllister, joined by EU Ambassador to Macedonia Samuel Zbogar, also held a meeting with Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi and the members of the Committee for National Reconciliation, at which they expressed support for the reconciliation process conducted in the Parliament. “This is of enormous importance for us, demonstrating that we are on the right path and that the process of integration, reforms and reconciliation is the proper direction for Macedonia. These are historic times for the country,” said MP Emilija Aleksandrova from the independent MP group of VMRO-DPMNE, and co-president of the Reconciliation Committee. She also revealed that the first draft-version of the Law on Reconciliation will be finished by Friday and put up for discussion in the Parliament.
