Mickoski: French Proposal Doesn’t Resolve Bilateral Issues with Bulgaria

VMRO-DPMNE Leader Hristijan Mickoski says in an interview for Serbian newspaper “Politika” that the French proposal for accession of North Macedonia in the EU does not offer solution for the bilateral disputes with Bulgaria and will only start a never-ending process of negotiations with assimilation attempts under Bulgarian dictatorship. “In Bulgaria they are very happy that this proposal contains all their demands which are quite unfavourable for our country, for they demand complete elimination of the Macedonian language, identity and history. Macedonia is left on its own, without any guarantees for its European perspective by the EU. We are waiting for EU accession for 17 years now, and we’ve already been through enough, we cannot deal with more demands. This is why the citizens are revolted and organise protests against this proposal, and VMRO-DPMNE supports them. I believe that the future of the Western Balkans is in the EU, and I think reforms should continue,” Mickoski said.
