Mickoski: New Government Incapable to Manage the Country

Leader of VMRO-DPMNE Hristijan Mickoski held a press conference on Monday, commenting on the election of the new government that occurred in the Parliament of Macedonia on Sunday evening. “Today we have a new government but with old, expended and compromised officials. Since the start of the pre-electoral campaign, they kept promising projects and initiatives which even they do not believe can be realised. They do not care for the well-being of the people, only to grab from the state funds and resources for themselves as much as possible. While Zaev and SDSM boast around that they improve the country and that the economy is great and progressing, international institutions put us in the same group with countries like Zimbabwe, Somalia or Eswatini. They claim they dealt with the COVID-19 crisis successfully, but forget to mention that the number of unemployed people increased by over 40,000 in the past few months. We are yet to see the worst of the COVID-19 crisis, and Zaev does not really seem to care about the health of the people. Despite all signals from the people, the proceeded with their plans for massive robberies totally ignoring the will of the people demonstrated in elections. However, VMRO-DPMNE will stand next to the citizens in their demands for justice and better future, and this will be demonstrated with organisation of rallies all over the country, and in due time we shall successfully provoke the fall of this government, which I believe will be sooner than expected,” Mickoski said. Referring to the issues within the party and the demands for his resignation as party leader, Mickoski said that he does not intend to take such a step. “I have no intention to withdraw from the top position of the party now when we are to fight against the criminal rule of Zaev and the alliance led by SDSM. A resignation of mine would only aid Zaev and no one else. Some people within the party intend to show VMRO-DPMNE as a divided collective, but in fact they only work for the “hotel alliance” in favour of Zaev. I shall never make compromise with criminals. I shall struggle against it all as long as I live, and even if I am not, there are plans B and C. We must get rid of the burden, of those that do wrong to VMRO-DPMNE, because only then we can once again be victorious,” Mickoski concluded, adding that so far no one in the party has filed an initiative to the leadership for holding a party congress for election of new leader.
