The Macedonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has expelled from the country one diplomat from the Russian Embassy in Skopje. MFA confirmed this information, revealing that Russian Ambassador Sergey Bazdnikin has been called for consultations at MF on 14 May 2021 and was given a note stating that the diplomat in question is to leave the country in 7 days. From MFA they state that the decision for exiling of the diplomat was made in accordance with Article 9 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. President Stevo Pendarovski said at a press conference that he was aware about this case, but that due to the nature of the event, he cannot reveal any further details. From the Russian Embassy they confirmed this event, and added that official Moscow will respond reciprocally.
