OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Slovak FM Lajcak holds Meetings in Skopje

If Macedonia doesn’t get a date by October, that will mean a full stop for its EU perspective, FM Nikola Dimitrov said at a joint press-conference on Wednesday with OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Slovak FM Miroslav Lajcak, who’s visiting Skopje. According to him, the country has done a lot both domestically and in terms of resolving difficult issues over the past two years. “North Macedonia’s success will be an important signal to the whole region that the European door is open,” he stressed. Lajcak stated that the country had done a lot, adding that it was now the EU’s turn to deliver on its promises. According to him, though there weren’t any Member States opposing Macedonia getting a date, there were some that opposed a date for Albania. The Slovak FM urged Macedonia to continue the reform process. The same day, Lajcak held a meeting with President Stevo Pendarovski, too.  At the meeting, the President said his country highly appreciated Slovakia’s strong pledge and concrete support for a date for Macedonia. Lajcak wished Pendarovski a successful term and expressed readiness to further deepen the traditionally friendly relations between Slovakia and Macedonia. Wednesday saw Lajcak meet the Deputy PM for European Affairs, Bujar Osmani, VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski and PM Zoran Zaev, too.
