Parliamentary Committee supports Revocation of Gruevski’s MP mandate

On Wednesday, Parliament’s Committee on Mandatory-Immunity Issues supported a revocation of former PM Nikola Gruevski’s MP mandate. Five members voted in favour, while there were no votes against and abstentions. VMRO-DPMNE’s MPs had left the session before the vote. The issue will now be debated at a plenary session. “We will remain principled and respect the laws,” Nevenka Stamenkovska of Hristijan Mickoski’s party stated. According to her, Gruevski doesn’t meet the conditions to be unjustifiably absent, while the government is preventing him from registering his absence as justifiable. VMRO-DPMNE added that Gruevski wasn’t a fugitive because he’d been granted asylum by an EU member-state.
