North Macedonia is missing optimism that the European values and principles are still a reality. The message was sent from Munich by PM Dimitar Kovacevski, who urged European leaders to find a formula to keep their world and show in practice that the enlargement process with the Western Balkans is alive. On the third day of the Security Conference, Kovacevski stated that the blockade was seen by the whole region as a serious blow to the trust of the Union. The credibility of the EU, the PM added is called into question. In his view, if the EU shows absence or weakness in the Western Balkans, the third sides will have more opportunities then to fill that void that is exceptionally important from a geostrategic standpoint. In Germany, Kovacevski and his Bulgarian counterpart Kiril Petkov agreed for the changes to North Macedonia’s Constitution and inclusion of Bulgarians in it to be guaranteed by Brussels.
