Commenting on the reactions to the decision on new casino companies, PM Dimitar Kovacevski said on Wednesday it was being done in order for there to be responsible and controlled organisation of games of chance by the state. As he added, citizens bet online on foreign platforms, while now, the money will stay in the country.
The PM also asked: “Does someone in the country want to protect somebody’s monopoly because there is now only one organiser? Is it better for there to be one or for there to be four, in which the country has a stake of 51%?” Regarding VMRO-DPMNE’s accusations, that is, the party’s question as to whether the partner company will be 8888.bg, an online gambling house based in Bulgaria, Kovacevski said a company under that name hadn’t obtained documentation to participate in the procedure to get a licence.
