PM Dimitar Kovacevski spoke on the phone on Wednesday to his Ukrainian counterpart, Denys Shmyhal, expressing support on behalf of North Macedonia for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. According to Kovacevski, the actions of Russia to recognise as independent the Ukrainian region of Donetsk and Luhansk is direct attack over the territorial integrity of Ukraine, and that as a NATO member, North Macedonia joins the call of the other NATO members towards Russia for peaceful resolution of the conflict. Kovacevski also said that the foreign policy of North Macedonia is in line with those of NATO and EU when it comes to the introduction of sanctions against Russia. In meantime, governmental spokesperson Dusko Arsovksi confirmed at a press conference that the government will discuss possibilities for providing assistance to Ukraine and introducing sanctions against Russia.
