PM Zoran Zaev at the meeting on Tuesday with his Luxembourg counterpart Xavier Bettel, pointed out Luxembourg as one of the greatest supporters of MKD integration in the EU, and praised the positions of Luxembourg towards the bilateral issue between Macedonia and Bulgaria. In an interview for the local newspaper “Wort” Zaev stated: “The veto of Bulgaria towards us was a rather ungrateful gesture. Still, I believe that both our government can find solutions for the issues preventing our accession in the EU. This also requires assistance from the other EU member-states too, through which EU will show that it respects the values, and that historical disputes should not pose obstacle for the secure future of the country.” Zaev added that he is grateful of the financial assistance form the EU for dealing with COVID-19, even though the EU disappointed Macedonia with the procurement of vaccines.
