On Thursday, the Political System Committee rejected the initiative filed by Todor Petrov to collect at least 150,000 voters in order for an additional referendum to be scheduled. In the initiative, backed by signatures from 157 citizens, Todorov had requested a referendum on whether citizens supported the change of the country’s name. The Chairperson of the Parliament’s Political System Committee, Cedomir Sazdovski, said that the initiative had been rejected because the referendum question wasn’t in line with the country’s name and with the referendum law, as well as because Parliament had already made, at its session held on 30 January, a decision to reject the same initiative.
