Protest Staged Demanding Release of People Convicted in 27 April Case

Several patriotic associations organised a protest on Sunday, demanding a release of those convicted and imprisoned in the case concerning the 27 April 2017 storming of Parliament. Describing those in prison as defenders of the Constitution, protesters also demanded early parliamentary elections, which would be held simultaneously with the local ones. “We demand for the Supreme Court of Macedonia to annul the verdicts against everyone over the 27 April 2017 events in Macedonia’s Parliament and renew the trial due to additional evidence of fake statements by witnesses and selective selection of evidence and witnesses against the defendants,” opera singer Igor Durlovski said on behalf of the organisers. VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski said the protest was basically a reflection of the overall situation in society because the people were not satisfied. SDSM said VMRO-DPMNE’s support showed the party defended crime.
