PS Xhaferi Addresses 140th IPU Assembly

The President of the Macedonian Parliament Talat Xhaferi attended in Doha, Quatar the 140th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). In Doha, Xhaferi delivered an address at the debate titled “Parliaments as Platforms to Enhance Education for Peace, Security and the Rule of Law”. “In the past, we experienced many turbulent periods, unfortunately, and military conflicts that were mainly based on disrespect for human rights and freedoms, many prejudices and stereotypes, regrettably present in the educational process. In our country, according to the law, secondary education is obligatory and free of charge. Considering that we are a multi-ethnic society, for the largest ethnic communities, the Macedonian and Albanian, we have provided a complete educational process in the native language,” Xhaferi said in his address. At the sidelines of the summit, Xhaferi held meetings with the President of the House of Representatives of the Federal Parliament of Belgium Siegfried Bracke and the Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Nigmatulin, which Xhaferi notified on the ongoing political events in Macedonia, as the implementation of the Prespa Agreement, the integration of Macedonia in NATO and EU and the implementation of reforms, like the Law on Languages.
