Rama to Demand Decoupling if EU Accession Talks Don’t Start in June

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama reiterated the positions of official Tirana that they would probably demand decoupling of Albania and North Macedonia in the EU accession processes if no progress is reached sooner. “65% of citizens of Albania support this action, and I can say that if in June the EU does not start the accession talks with Skopje and Tirana, we shall be forced to demand the decoupling. If Bulgaria proceeds to block these processes, we will have no other choice but decoupling,” Rama said during a mutual press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who said that his government will continue to support the integration of the Western Balkans in the EU in scope of the Berlin Process, especially now after the crisis in Ukraine.
