Sali: We Are Not Ready for Abolition of Measures Yet

Health Minister Bekim Sali, said that they are monitoring the situation and according to what they receive as a result of their analysis, they believe that it is not yet time to completely abolish the measures or reduce them. “We, as the Ministry of Health and the Institute of Public Health, normally and through the Infectious Diseases Committee, constantly monitor what is happening with the countries that have suspended the measures. There you have a sharp return, i.e. an increase in the number of newly infected and according to the new methodology that is practiced in all countries, and that is measuring the risk to the health system, not for individuals. One of the indicators is the number of newly infected, but an important indicator is the number of patients who are hospitalized. According to that situation, we are not ready to reduce the measures yet,” said Minister Sali, noting that some of the COVID centres in the country are closed and that there is no need for additional beds.
