SCPC opens Cases against PM Zaev, Vice-PM Angjusev and other Officials

The State Commission for Prevention of Corruption (SCPC) held a public session on Thursday in which it opened several cases against current and former state officials. SCPC opened cases against the PM Zoran Zaev related to the business complexes “Carevi Kuli” and “Global”, as well as the recently closed bribery case in which Zaev demands bribery from a businessman for his brother Vice, against Vice-PM Koco Angjusev for the company “MHE Topolki”, against the Minister of Information Society and Administration Damjan Mancevski for cases related with companies in Greece. SCPC also opened a case against Struga Mayor Ramiz Merko related to the procurement of his official vehicle worth 114,000 euros. A case was also open against the current president of the Supreme Court of Macedonia Jovo Vangelovski, also for procurement of an official vehicle. Vangelovski is also involved in another case open on Thursday, which focuses on him, the former and the current Judicial Council Presidents, Zoran Karadzovski and Kole Sterijev respectively, for receiving an annual lump sum of 10,000 euros from the Supreme Court for three years. Commenting on the cases involving PM Zaev, SCPC President Biljana Ivanovska said that despite these cases being closed by the courts, it is their obligation to open them and investigate them further.
