Parliamentary games over the election of a new State Election Commission (SEC) member have started. In the frames of the Committee on Election and Appointment Issues, two of five nominations aren’t being accepted.
One of them concerns the person nominated by BESA, Alternative, and Democratic Movement, Abdush Demiri. The Chairperson of the Committee, Marija Georgieska, said on Wednesday that Demiri’s CV said he was BESA’s Secretary General. Her comments were criticised by MP Fadil Zendeli, who even presented a notary statement by the candidate saying he is not a member of any party organ.
VMRO-DPMNE said the ruling coalition was trying to prevent members from the ethnic Albanian opposition being part of election boards in the elections.
