Sekerinska: Final Preparations to Raise Flag outside NATO HQ Underway

The final preparations are underway to raise the Macedonian flag outside NATO HQ, Defence Minister Radmila Sekerinska said on her official Facebook page on Monday. She wrote: “We’re becoming the 30th member-state of the strongest military-political Alliance! That is a reason for joint pride!” The Deputy Foreign Minister, Andrej Zernovski, too, voiced satisfaction. “The dream of all previous and current generation is becoming a reality,” he wrote, adding that Macedonia was getting a stable and prosperous future. The same day, at a press-conference, Sekerinska, commenting on the adoption of the changes to the Defence Law, thanked the 80 MPs for the support. According to her, it’s been shown who’s truly in favour of EU and NATO membership as opposed to who was doing party calculations. Also on Monday, James Appathurai, NATO’s Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy, commenting on the country’s road to membership, said there would be consequences of that path if there was backsliding in terms of the Prespa Agreement. In the interview, he commented on other issues, including the ratification process, as well.
