Special Representative Buckovski Meets Zaharieva in Sofia

After Wednesday’s meeting in Sofia with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva, the Government’s Special Representative for Bulgaria, Vlado Buckovski, said that though neither he nor Zaharieva could change common history, they could work on improving the future. “I’m convinced that we assured Minister Zaharieva and her team that we were ready to implement the good-neighbourliness and cooperation deal. We’re seeking instruments, if that is the roadmap, I believe that will be able to be a tool where we will measure the achievements in the period ahead. We admit trust has been violated,” he stated. Zaharieva, too, said there were trust problems, adding that Skopje was to blame. The Bulgarian politician stated that the word “veto” shouldn’t be used because it was about non-approval of the negotiating framework.
