Survey: 78% of Citizens Believe Country Is in Political Crisis

According to the survey by Macedonian Centre for International Cooperation, about three quarters of citizens agree that the country is in a political crisis. The most numerous of them are the supporters of VMRO-DPMNE – 87.6% and the undecided 78.6%. When asked what they think is the solution to overcome the political crisis, most of the citizens, or 36% said that it is early parliamentary elections. Some believe that the Government has the strength to continue and deal with the crisis, while for 15.7% the solution is to form a broad coalition of SDSM and VMRO-DPMNE. According to ethnicity, over 40% of ethnic Macedonians more often chose the answer “early parliamentary elections” and ethnic Albanians are more likely to believe that the government has the strength to continue and deal with the crisis (47%). The MCIC survey was conducted by telephone in the period from 17 to 24 March 2021 on a nationally representative sample of 1,003 respondents.
