Thimonier: “Racketeering” Case compromises Date for EU Membership Talks

The French Ambassador to Macedonia Christian Thimonier says in an interview for Vecer daily newspaper that the “Racketeering” case and other suspicious affairs may compromise the conditions for the EU to determine a date for start of membership negotiations with Macedonia. “The general opinion of the French public about the Balkans is that it is a place full of violence and corruption, and unfortunately, the cases that are currently popular and debated do not help the country in its processes for integration in the EU. There is a great list of reforms for rule of law, elimination of corruption and stronger safety that your country needs to implement sooner,” says Ambassador Thimonier.
