Tsipras and Mitsotakis Trade Accusations over Prespa Agreement

During a Greek Parliament debate, MP and former PM Alexis Tsipras said that New Democracy, while it had been an opposition party, would claim the Prespa deal was treacherous and fanaticise citizens to head to protests, but later on had betrayed them. On the other hand, PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis reiterated there was “strong disagreements” over aspects over the Agreement, adding that he had voted against. As he noted, however, even then, he said an internationally ratified deal couldn’t be changed. The SYRIZA leader stated that to his party, Greece’s foreign policy was reflected in the Prespa Agreement. In his view, when it comes to the Mitsotakis Government, the foreign policy of Greece is reflected in the decision to allow “the Americans” to use the base in Alexandroupoli for an indefinite period of time.
