The US Ambassador to Macedonia Kate Marie Byrnes reacted via Twitter to the recent events and publications of recordings related to the “Racketeering” case. Quoting the tweet of EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn from the other day, Byrnes says that now is the right time for Macedonia to demonstrate its pledges for rule of the laws. “As we have said previously, these are serious charges that require a serious response that is thorough, transparent & timely. Now is the time for North Macedonia to demonstrate commitment to adherence to the rule of law,” Byrnes writes on Twitter. Reaction also came from the university professor and expert on conflict management Daniel Serwer. “In times like these, the government of North Macedonia must demonstrate extreme dedication to the rule of law and conduct a thorough, fair and transparent investigation over the involvement of all state officials in this case. At the same time, the opposition should not rush to come to conclusions. I’m convinced in the country’s dedication to the integration in EU, but in the end it is up to Brussels to decide whether a delay of the process is necessary or not,” Serwer told MIA.
