VMRO-DPMNE and Foreign Ministry Divided over Osmani’s Use of Albanian

According to VMRO-DPMNE, Bujar Osmani should resign as Foreign Minister because he spoke only in Albanian at the press-conference with Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation, Jose Manuel Albares Bueno. The party’s Spokesperson, Marija Miteva, stated that that Osmani had humiliated all citizens. As she added, it’s clear what the official language is for international use. In response, the Ministry said Hristijan Mickoski’s party was lying, adding that it always complied with the Law on the Use of Languages. “The application of the Law at all events organised by the Ministry, which are frequent, public, and numerous, is always properly implemented. At every event, the Minister address the domestic public in the two official languages defined according to the Constitution and the Law on Languages,” the institution noted, adding that it provided interpretation for media in attendance.
