Answering a question from the Bulgarian National Radio, Portugal’s Secretary of State for European Affairs, Ana Paula Zacarias, said the language of North Macedonia had once been part of the Bulgarian language and the cultural dimensions of the two countries, the SDK.MK portal and multiple other media reported on Tuesday. The same day, PM Zoran Zaev said Foreign Ministry services would check the authenticity of her statement. As he added, the Portuguese proposal offers a solution, but doesn’t take sides inside. According to Zaev, the solution is inside the negotiating framework, the translation of the acquis will be into Macedonian.
