Zaev and Maricic Hold Meeting with OSCE-ODIHR

Prime Minister Zoran Zaev and Justice Minister Bojan Maricic received a delegation from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) local election observation mission, led by mission chief Tana de Zulueta. PM Zaev and Minister Maricic stressed at the meeting that all preparations for fair and democratic elections for mayors and councils in municipalities under the jurisdiction of the Government were carried out in full compliance with the OSCE-ODIHR recommendations, including most of those related to and the Electoral Code. They said at the meeting that the accepted amendments to the Electoral Code, which were passed by a large majority of all political parties at Parliament, provided additional guarantees for the conduct of local elections according to the highest standards. The head of the OSCE-ODIHR mission, Tana de Zulueta, informed that the local election observation mission will monitor these local elections with 20 long-term and 250 short-term observers, who will arrive a few days before election day. It was confirmed at the meeting that the elections will be conducted under strict control and in compliance with the established protocols for organizing a safe campaign and voting in the conditions of the current pandemic.
