Zaharieva Critical of ‘Anti-Bulgarian’ Rhetoric in Macedonia

Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva says that the anti-Bulgarian rhetoric in Macedonia is a result of the coming elections and the nationalist stands of some politicians. “When you aspire to be part of the European family, it shouldn’t come to the mind of any politician to talk that way, especially towards a neighbouring friendly country,” she tells the Bulgarian public broadcaster, BNT TV. According to Zaharieva, that rhetoric in Macedonia is accompanied also by a lot of fake news about Bulgaria and its stands. The Bulgarian Minister considers that the biggest step back in the Skopje-Sofia bilateral relations is the interruption of the work of the Joint Commission in charge of historical issues.
