In a social media post on Thursday, VMRO-DPMNE’s Skopje mayoral candidate, Orce Gjorgjievski, stated that activities to pick up waste in the capital had been underway since the morning.
“While the City’s authorities are sleeping, we’ve been cleaning the city since the early morning hours. We mustn’t allow the health of our people to be endangered due to the Communal Hygiene’s dysfunctionality. We’re therefore taking matters into our own hands”, he stated.
Gjorgjievski also expressed gratitude to the Municipalities of Kumanovo, Kavadarci, Ilinden, Zelenikovo, and Sopiste, as well as to socially responsible companies, for their help in the clean-up activities.
Gjorgjievski’s opponent in the second round of the Skopje mayoral race, Amar Mecinovic, however, believes the ruling structure’s representatives had exploited the waste crisis in the capital.
In Centar, the Mayor, SDSM’s Goran Gerasimovski, who’s running for another term, stated that all Municipality and the Parking Lots of Centar Municipality PE had been being assigned concrete tasks to solve the “crisis”.
