Aleksandar Jovanovski Appointed Communal Hygiene PE Director

Aleksandar Jovanovski has been appointed Director of the Skopje-based Komunalna Higiena (Communal Hygiene) PE. Jovanovski previously worked as an inspector at the City of Skopje’s Inspectorate Sector, as well as, prior to that, at the Local Economic Development Sector.

“Aleksandar has multiple-year experience in the private trade sector as an administrator of an organisational unit, while, during employment at the Association for Environmental Protection and Advancement, he would work on implementation on ecological and socially-responsible projects”, the City of Skopje said on Thursday.

Jovanovski has a higher education degree in management from Stip-based Goce Delcev University, as well as an international certificate on institutional approaches to environmental protection.

“With his education, professional experience, and engagement in the public and private sector, Jovanovski will contribute, within Communal Hygiene, to advancing the PE’s standards, modernising waste management systems, and maintaining a clean, healthy, and eco-responsible environment in the city of Skopje”, it was added in the press-release.

An hour before his appointment, the PE’s Managing Board had called on outgoing Mayor Danela Arsovska to urgently appoint an acting head.

“Currently, reserves of oil intended for special communal vehicles that are used to collect and transport communal waste, which cannot be procured without an acting director’s signatures, are nearing the end”, they pointed out.

Also on Thursday, Dragan Kocinski of the Public Health Institute stated that though some diseases directly associated with the waste issues in the capital hadn’t been registered, “attention should be paid, especially in this period”, that is, until the garbage was cleaned up.
