Alta Banka AD Bitola Placed on Watch List Amid Customer Concern

Despite the official information that the branches of Alta Banka AD Bitola would not serve clients starting Monday (November 2), large numbers of concerned citizens waited to enter in the morning. They said they were dissatisfied with restrictions limiting them to spending only 10,000 denars per week and demanded access to all their funds.

The most affected are those who cannot withdraw cash with cards at ATMs. Alta Banka AD Bitola has also been placed on the watch list of the Macedonian Stock Exchange. The National Bank said that the introduction of temporary administration didn’t mean the closure of the bank, but rather the protection of the assets of all depositors until a new owner was found.

Also, National Bank Governor Slaveski, in an interview with Telma, said pensioners and other clients who did not have payment cards would be able to withdraw 20,000 denars in a single visit to a bank counter.
