On Sunday, too, there were lines of people at Alta Banka AD Bitola ATMs. North Macedonia’s National Bank said the bankruptcy of Serbia’s Alta Banka did not automatically spill over to Alta Banka AD Bitola, but the exposure between related entities and the financial stability of the domestic bank remained subject to its supervision.
Alta Banka now operates under the provisional administration of individuals appointed by North Macedonia’s National Bank. However, Governor Slaveski said citizens and companies who had loans with Alta Banka AD Bitola should continue to fulfill their financial obligations in a timely manner.
While SDSM leader Filipche and Slaveski were trading accusations on social media on Sunday, Alta Banka AD Bitola said that starting tomorrow (Monday), it was closing all of its branches indefinitely.
