Ambassador Aggeler: US Supports EU Roadmap for Judicial Reform

During Monday’s visit to Jane Sandanski Barracks for the presentation of the six new JLTVs intended for the Army’s Light Infantry Battalion, US Ambassador Angela Aggeler, asked about judicial reforms, said any Judicial Council or, in general, judicial reform should be made very carefully, adding that wise decisions should be made. Describing judicial reform as absolutely necessary, the Ambassador stated that the US and its Embassy in Skopje supported the EU’s roadmap.

Regarding the blacklist, Ambassador Aggeler said that though it was a continued process, she couldn’t say exactly when a new person would be designated.

Nonetheless, the Ambassador stressed that numerous persons were being considered.

When it comes to the Prosecutor’s Office’s request for legal aid in the pre-investigation over Soravia and Drin Ahmeti, nephew of DUI leader Ali Ahmeti, she said she didn’t have details, adding that the legal office of the Embassy dealt with such matters. However, she added that nobody was above the law.
